Sjamanistisk Forbund has performed weddings since 2012 and offers shamanic wedding ceremonies that can be held outdoors.
The process
Couples first contact the organisation to be assigned a steward (forstander) who guides them through the whole process. A certificate of no impediment to marriage (prøvingsattest) is required and can be obtained from the Norwegian Tax Administration or your local registry office.
Ceremony structure
The wedding has two parts: a preparatory ceremony for a chosen few, carried out together with the steward before the wedding, and the main wedding ceremony on the day itself.
After the ceremony
The marriage documents are signed and sent to the National Population Register by Sjamanistisk Forbund. The couple receive their marriage certificate afterwards. Requests for a change of name can be submitted together with the application material.
