A number of board members wished to change the statement of purpose (§ 1.1) and the chapter on roles and responsibilities (§ 3.3–3.3.4), but this met with disagreement on the board.
Some saw it as organizational development, while others believed it would weaken the vision-keeper's lifetime role, enshrined in the bylaws and constitution, and the right of veto, which applies precisely to these paragraphs. This is because the vision-keeper is the one who received the vision in 2009, expressed in the statement of purpose. The right of veto applies to these paragraphs, §1.1 and § 3.3–3.3.4.
When the right of veto was used, it became clear that such changes could not be carried out within the current bylaws.
This development, together with disagreement about how a complaint against a person was handled, led to several board members resigning.
The remaining board perceives the process of substantial fundamental changes to the bylaws as divisive and wishes that the fundamental bylaws of the paragraphs mentioned above be kept.
The other bylaws that do not concern the aforementioned paragraphs may, where appropriate, be changed following a proposal and the usual processing at the annual meeting.
