Shamanic healing is a magical and powerful way to help both yourself and others. Unlike ordinary laying on of hands, this healing does not take place only with the hands and the body, but can occur in the three shamanic worlds: the middle world (where we live), the upper world (the sky and the spirit world), and the lower world (the realm of the earth, power animals and the realm of the ancestors). This makes healing an exciting and profound experience, where many things become possible - things that normally cannot happen in the physical world.

Imagine that you and someone you are going to help walk together to a lavvo built in the middle world. This lavvo is not just a tent - it is a sacred space, a portal. When you sit down inside it, it is like stepping into your own magical universe where all energies can move freely. Here you can begin the healing work by creating calm, listening to the speech of the body and the soul, and opening up to nature's healing powers. The lavvo binds you together with the pulse of the earth and the nature spirits that surround you.

In the middle world, healing happens through direct contact. You can feel the warmth of the fire, the scent of herbs, hear the rhythm of the drum as you help to loosen blockages. It is about directing energy, repairing fractures in body or soul, and bringing balance back.

In the upper world, healing can happen in a different way. When the shaman, with the help of the drum and visualization, journeys upward, it becomes possible to draw on the wisdom of beings of light, angels or powerful spirits. Here one can gain access to the universe's deepest understandings, put spiritual technology in place and use it, and illuminate the dark rooms of the soul without time following the rules of the physical world.

The lower world does not follow time as we know it. Here one can retrieve lost parts of a soul, meet the animals that carry power, or go into the depths of one's own fears and traumas to find healing. When shamans dive down to the roots, a magical thread is woven that binds together past with present, earth with spirit, and illness with power.

This threefold way of healing offers an enormous range of possibilities, and shamanism teaches that each person, each situation, needs its own unique path. That is why shamanic healing is not about following a fixed formula, but about using intuition, opening oneself to the helpers of the spirit world and having respect for the power in each moment.

Practical exercises for shamanic healing in the three worlds

Exercise 1: Build your lavvo or hut in the middle world as a healing space

Having a physical sacred space in the middle world provides a solid foundation for shamanic healing. This exercise helps you establish your own space where both you and others can draw power and calm in the healing work.

How to do it:

Choose a place

Find a quiet place in nature, a garden or a room where you can set up a temporary lavvo, tent or hut.

If you do not have the possibility outdoors, a small indoor nook can work fine.

Gather materials

Use natural materials such as branches, blankets, hides, stones and textiles to create a warm and protective frame.

Light a fire (if possible and safe) or a candle in the lavvo as a symbol of life force.

Furnish the lavvo

Place a table, blankets or cushions for comfort.

Make an altar or a small space for symbols, herbs, sacred objects or crystals.

Bless and consecrate

When the space is set up, consecrate it as a healing space: use drum sound or song to open the space energetically.

Call in the spirits of nature, the ancestors and power animals, and set a clear intention that this place is a safe space for healing and transformation.

Use the lavvo actively

Enter the space before and during healing to ground yourself, draw support and create calm.

Let both you and the person being healed feel the safety of the lavvo.

Exercise 2: Gather herbs and plants to make healing medicines

Drawing power from nature is also about using its gifts - the wild herbs and plants that contain power and wisdom. In the same way, you can use the herbs in the three worlds. This exercise gives a practical approach to shamanic healing through herbal medicine.

How to do it:

Get to know the plants

Start by reading about and learning about local herbs in your area that have medicinal and spiritual properties. For example birch leaves, yarrow, chamomile, rosemary or nettle.

Find the right places, e.g. in the middle world

Go out into nature, into the forest, meadow or garden where the plants grow freely and powerfully

Gather with respect

Take only small amounts and leave the plant behind to continue to bloom and grow.

Thank the plant and nature before, during and after the gathering.

Prepare herbal medicines

Herbs can be used for tea, tinctures, salves or incense.

For example, make a simple herbal tea by drying the leaves, or apply a salve to minor wounds.

Use herbal medicine in rituals

Integrate the herbs into healing rituals by burning incense, sprinkling powder or using water that carries the power of the herbs.

Intone or set an intention for the healing before you use the plant.

Exercise 3: Healing in the middle world - the calm of the lavvo

Create or find a quiet place that can be your sacred space - perhaps a lavvo, a tent, or just a quiet nook.

Light a fire or candles, use incense and a drum to create atmosphere.

Let the person you are healing sit or lie comfortably.

Listen to the body and the spirits that surround you, let the energies flow between you.

Focus on the areas that need support, and use your hands and intention to send healing power.

Gratitude and closing: thank nature's powers and the spiritual helpers.

Exercise 4: Journey and healing in the upper world - the realm of the beings of light

Sit or lie down in a quiet place with a drum or audio track.

Set a clear intention to send or receive healing from the upper world.

Visualize that you rise up through light and cloud until you meet beings of light or guides.

Ask for insight, power or healing for yourself or others. Receive messages and power.

Return calmly, and feel free to write down visions or messages.

Exercise 5: Deep healing in the lower world - the power of the roots

Use a drum or drum sound to glide into a calm trance.

Visualize that you float down a tunnel or stairway toward the heart of the earth.

Meet power animals, ancestor spirits or your own deepest layers.

Bring home what is missing, heal what is damaged, and receive wisdom.

End the journey by gently drawing yourself back up to the body.

This threefold healing approach allows you to work on many levels at the same time: in the body and in the energy field, with higher spiritual dimensions and in our innermost self. With practice and respect, shamanic healing can become a natural part of both your own and others' lives - a path to wholeness, light and power.

Journeying through the three worlds and healing there is an adventure that requires both courage and openness. But the reward is a deeper contact with yourself, nature and the life-giving pulse of the universe. Take the first step into the magic - welcome to a healing world!
