Not all of our members have the chance to take part in our events. Tomorrow is the Bear Moon, and we have created a ceremony that you can perform either indoors or outdoors.
Preparation
Find a symbol of the bear (a stone, a picture, or something else you associate with the bear's strength).
Read a little about the bear's qualities: strength, protection, balance, and insight. Think about what you wish to gain from the ceremony.
Set an intention for the ceremony, such as: "I seek insight into a challenge I am facing" or "I wish to strengthen my inner balance."
Performing the ceremony
Prepare the room:
Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed.
Light a candle or use a small lamp as a symbol of the sacred fire.
If you have incense or sage, you can use it to cleanse the room.
Opening
Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and visualize that you are inviting the bear's energy into the room.
Meditation with the bear amulet
Hold the amulet or symbol against your third eye (the area between the eyebrows).
Breathe calmly and imagine a powerful bear walking through a forest. Picture the bear sharing its strength and wisdom with you.
Focus on your intention while you let your thoughts flow freely.
Sound or drumming
If you have a drum, beat it slowly and rhythmically while you imagine the bear's heavy, secure steps.
If you do not have a drum, you can clap your hands calmly or simply listen to the sound of your own breathing. Or you can use our recordings of drum journeys.
Closing
When you feel ready, thank the bear for its presence and wisdom.
Put out the light and say aloud (or within yourself): "I close this room with gratitude."
Afterward
Write down thoughts or insights in a notebook, or simply sit for a while in silence to let the experience sink in.
Outdoor version
Preparation
Find a calm place in nature – a forest, garden, or park works fine.
Bring your bear amulet or symbol, as well as something to sit on (such as a blanket).
Think about your intention before you head out: What do you wish to gain insight into? What do you wish to strengthen within yourself?
Performing the ceremony
Prepare the area:
Find a place where you feel safe and undisturbed.
Mark the area symbolically by laying some stones or branches in a circle around you if you wish.
Opening
Sit down and take a few deep breaths while you look around at nature. Think of this place as now being your sacred room.
Meditation with the bear amulet:
Hold the amulet against your third eye or simply in your hands.
Close your eyes and visualize a bear moving calmly through the forest around you. Feel its strength, calm, and presence flowing into you.
Sound or drumming
If you have a small drum with you, play slowly while you imagine the bear's steps.
If not, you can make rhythmic sounds by gently patting your thighs or simply listen to the sounds of nature around you.
Closing
When you feel that the ceremony is complete, thank the nature around you and the bear's energy for their presence.
Say aloud (or within yourself): "I close this room with gratitude."
Afterward
Return slowly to your everyday life with calm in your body. If possible, write down thoughts or feelings from the ceremony when you get home.
