Not all of our members have the chance to take part in our full moon ceremonies. That is why we have created a simplified ceremony you can hold yourself at home, either indoors or outdoors. The full moon this time is the Wolf Moon, or Lingonberry Moon, and it falls on 3 January
Indoor wolf moon ceremony
Preparations:
A candle
A small bowl of water
A picture or figure of a wolf (or draw a simple wolf on a piece of paper)
A comfortable place to sit
How to do it:
Cleanse the room by lighting a little sage or incense if you have any. If not, open a window for fresh air.
Sit comfortably with the wolf picture in front of you and the candle to your right.
Light the candle and say: "I open this sacred space to find my inner truth."
Moisten your fingertips in the bowl of water and touch your forehead, heart, and stomach as you say: "I cleanse my thoughts, feelings, and instincts."
Close your eyes and visualise a wolf. Imagine that you follow the wolf on a journey inward into yourself; use a drum if you have one.
Sit in silence for 10–15 minutes and let your thoughts wander. Focus on your breath if your thoughts become distracting.
When the time is up, slowly open your eyes and say: "Thank you, wolf, for your guidance to my inner truth."
Put out the candle and say: "I close this sacred space, but I carry the truth with me."
Outdoor wolf moon ceremony
Preparations:
Four stones or sticks
A small fire
A comfortable place to sit outdoors
How to do it:
Choose a quiet place outdoors. Place the four stones or sticks in a circle around you, representing the four cardinal directions.
Stand in the centre of the circle and say: "I open this sacred space under the wolf moon to find my inner truth."
Light the fire.
Sit down and close your eyes. Listen to the sounds around you and imagine that they are the voice of the wolf guiding you.
Spend 15–20 minutes sitting in silence, or use a drum if you have one. Focus on your breath and let your thoughts come and go.
When the time is up, open your eyes and say: "Thank you, wolf and nature, for showing me my inner truth."
Stand up, pick up the stones/sticks, and say at each one: "Thank you, (east/south/west/north) for your wisdom."
Put out the fire/flashlight and say: "I close this sacred space, but I carry the truth with me in everyday life."
For both ceremonies: After finishing, take some time to reflect on the experience. You can write down any thoughts or insights you had during the ceremony. Remember that the most important thing is the intention and your personal experience, not a perfect performance of the ritual. Feel free to add your own variations and things that hold meaning for you.
