Not all of our members have the chance to take part in our public ceremonies. Here is a simplified version you can do yourself at home, either alone or together with your loved ones. The Lynx Moon marks a time for inner clarity, strength and trust in your own intuition. It reminds us of the lynx's ability to see in the dark and move soundlessly – and of standing securely within yourself.
Indoor version
Preparation:
Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
Light a candle or a tealight to symbolize the sacred fire.
If you like, have a singing bowl, drum or other sound object ready.
Lay out materials if you wish to make an amulet (bone, wood, stone, or a piece of antler).
The ceremony:
Open the space
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Say quietly:
“I open this space for clarity, strength and trust in myself.”
Cleansing
You can use sound (singing bowl, clapping, chiming) or incense to cleanse yourself and the space.
Sound and sensing
Make a calm sound with the singing bowl or the drum. Focus on the senses – imagine that you are like the lynx that discovers and reads everything through stillness.
Receive the power
Sit quietly with your eyes closed and notice which feelings and thoughts arise.
Ask yourself: What do I want to see clearly now? What do I need strength for?
The amulet
If you make an amulet you can use the paw print of the lynx, or, if you are good at drawing, the whole lynx. Imagine that it gathers your inner power and clarity.
Closing
Give thanks for what you have received. Gently blow out the candle and say:
“I close the sacred space, and carry the power in my heart.”
Afterward:
Take time to write down what you experienced, drink a little water or tea, and rest.
Outdoor version
Preparation:
Find a safe place where you can have a small fire or lantern.
Bring a singing bowl or drum.
If you like, bring materials for an amulet.
The ceremony:
Prepare the place
Tidy a little around you, and light the fire or the candle.
Say: “This is my sacred place for clarity and inner strength.”
Opening and cleansing
Let the wind, the sound and the darkness cleanse the mind. You can use sound from the singing bowl or a small hand drum.
Sensing like the lynx
Stand still with your eyes closed. Breathe deeply and listen to the sounds of the night. Feel the ground beneath you. Imagine that you see with the heart and hear with the soul.
Drum journey or stillness
Use the drum, or sit in stillness and feel the power of nature. Imagine that you gather the qualities of the lynx – clarity, patience, loyalty and intuition.
Amulet work
Make or hold your amulet. Rest while you think about what you want it to protect or strengthen in you.
Closing the ceremony
Say a thank you – to yourself, to nature, and to the night.
If you are by a fire: look into the flame and say quietly:
“I see in the dark and trust my path.”
Afterward:
Sit a while by the fire or under the moon, perhaps share food, tea or stillness with those you are with, whether they are of this world or the world of the spirits.
