Not all of our members have the opportunity to take part in a shared ceremony. That is why we have created this simplified version that you can easily do at home, alone or together with those you choose. The ceremony is inspired by the Loon, the Loon Moon, and its qualities: dreams, hope, wishes, healing, protection, magic, primal force, self-confidence, faithfulness, vision, willingness to sacrifice, and harmony with one's surroundings.
Preparation
Find a jar or glass to hold water.
Read a little about the Loon and its qualities (see the list above).
Choose a spot in the room or garden where you can be undisturbed.
Indoor version
- Preparing the space
Tidy up the area where you will be.
Think of this as your sacred space, you can set out a few small things that mean something to you, for example a stone, a picture, or a candle.
Place the jar of water on a table beside you.
- Welcome and introduction
Sit down and take a few deep breaths.
Think of the Loon and its qualities, dreams, hope, wishes, protection, and healing.
Say to yourself: Welcome to my sacred space. I am here to connect with the Loon and its powers.
- Cleansing
Pour a little water into your hands and gently wash your face.
Think of the water cleansing you of the old and making room for the new.
- Opening the circle
Stand up or sit still.
Imagine that you are drawing a circle around yourself (you can also walk around the room if you wish).
Say to yourself: I open the circle and invite in the Loon and its powers.
- The ceremony begins
Sit down and close your eyes.
Think of your dreams, hopes, and wishes.
Imagine that you are like the loon on the water, gliding quietly into your feelings.
Imagine that you are an arrow with a loon's beak, finding your way to your goal.
Play some calm music or use a drum app if you want sound in the background.
Hold your hands over the jar of water and imagine the water capturing your wishes and dreams.
- Closing the circle
Thank the Loon for being with you.
Imagine that you are closing the circle around yourself.
Pour a little water into your hands again and wash your face to round things off.

Feel free to invite someone to join you afterward.
Eat something good, talk, laugh, or listen to music together.
