Not all of our members have the opportunity to take part in summer solstice ceremonies. This year is also a little special, since apart from the Ancient Faith Day we have no event. That is why we have made this simple ceremony that you can celebrate by yourself, or with a few chosen friends.
Indoor summer solstice ceremony
Preparations
Choose a room: Find a quiet room where you can have a little space to move freely.
Make a small altar: Use a table or a shelf. Lay out an image of a spiral or a spiral that you draw yourself. Set up a candle or several small candles.
Gifts for the little folk: Lay out small gifts such as cookies, berries, or fine stones on the altar.
Cleansing: Use incense, salts or water to cleanse yourself and the room.
The ceremony
Welcome: Sit or stand before the altar. Take a few deep breaths. Tell yourself that you are welcome.
Opening: Walk around the altar (or stand still) and say a simple blessing, for example: "I open this sacred space for the summer solstice."
Lighting the candles: Light the candles on the altar.
Dance and music: Put on music or drum yourself. Dance around the altar, or simply move freely in the room. Place a gift on the altar if you wish.
Huldra dance (optional): If you feel like it, you can dress up with a shawl as a tail and a mask (or just imagine it). Dance freely and show your "tail".
Silence and thanks: When the dance is over, stand or sit still and say aloud or within yourself: "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
Closing: Walk around the altar in the opposite direction, and say: "I close this sacred space and give thanks for the ceremony."
Social (if several): Eat a little food, talk, or share joy and experiences.
